Once upon a time in Babylon

17 Apr 2020

No one knows when carpet weaving transformed from utility to art. When Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon in 539 BC, he was awestruck with the splendour of these carpets and he brought the craft to Persia. Gradually as centuries passed by, this craft grew more refined with rich, intricate designs and exquisite tapestries.

Each rug is an expression of Artisans through colored thread and the entire expression is coded through a Talim which can be called a Notation for the Rug.

The reading capability of Talim and the technique of Hand Knotting is passed on by generations.

We treasure the weavers. We facilitate them to explore
At Insigne, our effort is always to offer what our weaver explores
